Inlandsbanan

Interior Design for Refurbished Lint 41 Trains

A new passenger experience for scenic rail travel in Sweden
LundbergDesign has been responsible for the interior design of the refurbished Lint 41 trains operated by Inlandsbanan, running between Kristinehamn and Östersund. The inaugural service took place on April 16, 2026, marking the start of a new chapter for this iconic Swedish railway.

Interior design from concept to execution
Our work covered the full interior design process — from initial space planning and layout development to detailed design and final installed solution. The result is a functional, durable and passenger-focused interior tailored for long scenic journeys through Sweden’s inland landscapes.

Capacity and accessibility

Each train consists of two cars with a total capacity of 80 seats, including:
– 2 wheelchair spaces
– 10 fold-down seats for flexible use
The layout is designed to balance efficiency, accessibility and comfort for a wide range of passengers.

Passenger comfort and onboard experience
The interior is designed to enhance the travel experience along one of Sweden’s most scenic rail routes. Key features include:
– Dedicated seating areas for both second class and a more spacious first class experience (17 seats)
– Large panoramic windows for maximum landscape visibility
– Generous and robust luggage storage for practical long-distance travel
– A compact onboard mini bistro offering drinks and light refreshments throughout the journey

A refurbished train for modern regional travel
The project transforms the Lint 41 platform into a modern and reliable regional transport solution while preserving the unique character of the Inlandsbanan journey.
Second class offers a comfortable and efficient travel experience, while first class provides additional space for a more relaxed journey.
